The meetings take place at Local 802 - Musicians’ Hall, 322 West 48th Street, NYC.

Flea market: 12:30 - 1:45-Great place to find music sheets, tapes, CD’s etc. Members may bring their CD's to sell at the CD table. For information on this, write to ceo@mirandamusic.com

November 7, 2009 * SONDRA LEE - an actress, dancer, director, teacher... and the original Tiger Lily to millions - takes us through nearly 50 years of a glorious career on stage (High Button Shoes, Peter Pan, Hello, Dolly!, among others) and films (Fellini's La Dolce Vita) - in front and behind the camera.
December 5, 2009 * ANNIE LEBEAUX, performer on the Delta Queen historic steamboat and American Orient Express luxury train for many years, will bring her delightful "Rare & Ridiculous Vaudeville Songs, 1903-1926" show, drawn from her huge and ever-growing sheet music collection from her favorite era.
January 23, 2010 * DAVID HAJDU - music critic for The New Republic, Columbia Professor of Journalism and author on the perennial best-seller. "Lush Life," on the life of Billy Strayhorn - with music by two of our finest interpreters of American song, KAREN OBERLIN and ALLAN HARRIS.
February 13, 2010 SHARON PAIGE - Celebrates The Songs of Ned Washington. Sharon will be performing songs from her acclaimed CD "Love Is The Thing" and will be accompanied by the great pianist, arranger Keith Ingham and bassist Murray Wall. Sharon will tell us about the life and accomplishments of Ned Washington, composer of such songs as "The Nearness of You", "My Foolish Heart", "A Hundred Years From Today", "Give a Little Whistle" and "Love Is The Thing". NYSMS member Joe Regan, Jr wrote the liner notes for the CD and will attend and participate in the Q & A.
March 13, 2010 Our VP and reknowned music historian ROBERT KIMBALL willl be our guest speaker talking about his brilliant new book on the Lyrics of Johnny Mercer. LYNN DIMENNA and others will perform some of Mercer's hits!
April 10, 2010 MERRILL GRANT brings you a loveable, funny, light-hearted evening of songs and anecdotes of Shirley Temple, along with those of the leading ladies in her films- Dorothy Dell, Rochelle Hudson, Alice Faye and others. Tap dancing and other sparkling surprises are in store as Merrill tells of the span of time in her childhood she refers to as "My Shirley Years." Winner of Audience Favorite at "1930's Idol" 2009.
May 8, 2010 SANDI DURELL, producer, reviewer and Board member, launches her 9th Annual Songwriter Series. Program begins at 1:30PM. Some of this season's featured songwriters include: Multi Award winner songwriter-singer-guitarist Allan Harris and Soara-Joye Ross, Rosemary Loar with Frank Ponzio, Boston based jazz singer-songwriter Krisanthi Pappas, Neal Hampton as composer along with Jeffrey Haddow with songs from the new musical "Sense and Sensibility", Stacy Glen, Steven Silverstein with multi-award nominee Gretchen Reinhagen, Michael Ogborn, Bonnie Lee Sanders, Bobby Cronin and others. It will be a jam packed program filled with new material. CDs will be for sale from many of the participants. Arrive early to assure seating......we sometimes get as many as 150 people! PRESS RELEASE
June 12, 2010 Janice Grower and Laura Holleran will be the narrators for this incredible program. "Gershwin Rarities: The Gershwin You May Not Know." There will be slides of interesting and/or rare covers from pages of the book "The Sheet Music of George Gershin" by Thomas Inglis and Janice Grower. Pianist and Gershwin specialist Paul Bissaccia will play seldom heard piano music, and will accompany Pamela Johnson, mezzo-soprano, and David Kennedy, baritone, singing solos and duets, some of which probably have not been heard since their Broadway presentations in the 1920's and 1930's.
